Posted By Teresa Green Is there a source where one can verify that a training organisation is approved by the HSE or is it as basic as ringing up the local HSE office? Regards Teresa

Posted By Gilles27 According to my copy of the First Aid ACOP HSE can give this info - ring your local office. Also looking at my FAW certificate it bears the HSE Approval No. of my provider, although I have not had cause to check it out as it is East Midlands Ambulance Service, so one would hope they are approved! I would definitely check them out if you are considering a privateer trainer. Hope this helps jon

Posted By Teresa Green Gilles, Thank you for your prompt response although it did confirm what I already thought. However are we guilty of making assumptions that because a prestigious organisation produces certificates with a HSE registration number that it must be ok? After all the BBC forgot to apply for some sort of licence recently resulting in live audiences consisting of BBC employees. The EA expect us to verify that a waste disposal site has a current licence and not rely on a copy of their certificate. Perhaps the HSE could include a list of approved bodies within their website?

Posted By Darren J Fraser It is my understanding that all 1st aid course content and course venue must be approved by the HSE, this is why booking a 1st aid course must be done X no. of weeks in advance. This includes all refresher courses as well, and includes all courses hosted on the clients premises.
I do stand to be corrected if this is in any way incorrect.
