Posted By Jason911 I am not asking for names and offering free advertising here, but can anyone tell me if a nationwide company exists that where we could send employees to be drug tested. I don't think so? Jay

Posted By Louise Williams If you have employ occupational health services for your company, where health surveillance etc are in place - you could discuss with them the needs of your company and reasons for wanting to put this in place. Ensure that you have a Policy in place (- prior consultation with necessary staff/union reps). I understand many of the large well known private health care companies (as advertised on TV!) offer this service to employers otherwise a search on the web could help! Hope that helps L

Posted By Jeffrey Watt Jason. To further the debate can I ask this. Do you have evidence of a specific drug problem that is effecting worker's safety e.g. finding evidence of drug use on the premises. If not, and I offer this just as my opinion (nobody jump down my throat) I wonder how effective drug testing is at verifying a causal link between drug misuse and say an accident. In alcohol testing the link is strong. Crashed FLT, the driver smells of whiskey, we test driver and a high level of alcohol in breath/blood is shown. Alcohol is excreted at a rate so we know this test is time linked to the event. In drug testing I feel the link is weak. Crashed FLT, the driver's eyes are a bit dilated, We test driver and there is evidence of cannabis/opioids in his urine. He may have had a spliff 10days ago, he is not intoxicated now but the urine test cannot differentiate. Maybe cheap urine tests are better now and can give time related data but that has always been my problem with simple drug testing dip kits. Jeff

Posted By Gary L Hi Jason without mentioning names, some of the Link Up approved companies that service the rail industry can be contacted 24hr/day, 365 weeks/year for "for cause" testing and will aim to be on site within a few hours however their target time for attendance may change depending on how remote your work site is Hope this helps, Gary
