I found this article in my local papaer. The first question I asked myself was - how far does a duty of care extend? I then came up with so many scenarios it was unbelievanle. Have a read and let me know what you think. This one could be a huge debate!

Paul,
This is all to common and not a one off incident.
The dangers from asbestos were known long before this but the industry chose to ignore it so they had a duty of care.
I don't think there's much of a debate on this one.

Paul,
No shortage of similar cases involving the families [e.g. from washing work clothes] of those directly exposed.
HM Factory Inspectorate severely criticised for not enforcing 1931 [and then 1969] Regs in Ombudsman's report in 1976.

This is not news as there will be approx 1800 deaths from this disesase alone this year and it is expected to get worse and peak between 2011 and 2014.
1 in a 100 men born in the 1940's will die from meso - staggering! and we knew as far back as 1931 and even before 5000Bc that this stuff was dangerous.
Only 2 weeks today new Contol of Asbestos Rges 2006 are in force!
Have you found your asi, assessed its condition, trained your staff and produced a management plan - better get on with it then!
