A client has recently purchased an electric wheelchair/scooter for use by customers within its retail premises. They have asked me to assist them with a risk assessment. This is I am comfortable with, but I am looking at other legal responsibilities they have and at situations where they may be at risk. Some opinions and/or thoughts would be welcome.

refer to the company's insurance also occupiers liability, you might wish to consider what would happen if the user injuried somebody else whilst using your equipment.

Following on from my first reply, sorry hit the wrong button. You might wish consider location for charging the equipment, is a further addition to the fire risk assessment required? Testing and inspection timetable. End user competency.
Just a thought.

I would want to have a sign saying that the customer is using the scooter at their own risk and that the company will accept no responsibility for loss, damage or injury howsoever caused except as may be required by law. You will still, of course, be liable for anything arising from the condition of the scooter if you have failed to maintain or supply it in a safe condition.
