risk assesment/ method statements for roof ladders

hi all,
does anyone have method statement for use of roof ladders. our work is maintenance which regularly involves accesing the chimney on roofs of old houses. as regards risk assesment, i know each roof should be individually assessed but would appreciate info from anyone out their involved in similar maintenance work.

You may have to consider preventing falls from the roof edge, installing chimney scaffolds and possibly harnesses where people cannot be protected at a roof edge. These hazards / controls can be included in your risk assessment. Don't forget the RA should take into account the hierarchy of controls as set out in the 2005 WAH Regs.

Hi Kieth, you need to state,
1. what work is being carried out
2. how will i get to the work area
3. will i need a platform to work from
4. what equipment is the most suitable
5. what are the dangers when working
6. who could be affected by those dangers
7. put in measures to reduce those dangers to an aceptable level
8 monitor the work
include contact numbers for emergency services / services / A & E dept / who is in charge of the job
