Can anybody point me towards a document that states the correct height to raise the bucket of a loading shovel while travelling on a level road/surface?

I believe general good practice is 6 - 9 inches but a recent incident has highlighted an operator who states that the training he received was to raise it to a much higher level.

Thanks
Adam

sort of general rule of thumb is level with the fulcrum of the front wheels (axle), slightly higher on uneven ground. ie 6-9" on small FLT and up to 3ft on large excavator (never went metric on that!).

How about 'as low as reasonable practicable' and 'sufficient to clear the ground.

This will aid stability, traction and control.

The main document would be the manufacturers hand book

As a trained and experienced plant operator, keep the bucket as low as possible when travelling
