Hi All,
I want to find out if living accomodation is allowed on a construction site. There is a construction company which is planning to place a cabin on site to be used for accomodating some of it's workers. The cabin will have household facilities such as toilet, kitchen, bathroom, washing machine etc.
Please,I want to know if this is allowed on a construction site.
Regards,
Austin.

Hi Austin, yes it is but depending on the size of the project (CDM)any relative legislation will apply,
RA's / Fire/ Welfare etc.

Agree it's not illegal but i would suggest demarkating it from the site and giving it a seperate entrance to avoid the need to go through any part of the construction site to gain access - won't look to good if the residents come back from the pub and injure themselves on the site

Check the details in the information provided by the architect or surveyor, usually the preliminary's...it will normally state in there that the site/compound area cannot be used for anything else other than construction work...and that includes 'living accommodation'
We've had this situation before and were directed to this clause!
