Posted By William I need some help here and any comments would be very welcome. I have an interview on Friday and i need to make a PowerPoint presentation on "How i can support the company employees in adopting an enhanced personal reasonably for safety approach", i have a few ideas myself, but this will be my first time and would like to hear the ideas from others who have experience in this area, particularly in the offshore oil and gas industry or marine industry.

Posted By Merv Newman 1. check out the "step change" web site. You should get some good ideas there. 2. work on it. Advice I offer from time to time is "If you are going for an interview don't borrow ideas" It is so much better and makes for a much improved presentation if you have spent hours working over and developing your own presentation. That way you will really know the material and own it. 3. Tomorrow, Sunday. Don't take the kids to the park, don't visit your mother in law, don't go to the football match and don't do the gardening. Work on your presentation. You can even use it as an excuse for not doing the washing-up 4. good luck and let us know how it comes out. Merv (waiting for the weinner schnitzel)

Posted By Merv Newman P.S. "company employees" start at board level. How can you get them to adopt a more positive attitude to safety ? just a hint. Merv

Posted By William Ok, well things went well i think.. My presentation focussed on the safety responsability of the worker but not just at work, but also at home. I put across the idea that workers should be encouraged to be safe at all times and not just at work as what we really want to do is have them thinking safe at all times as when it then comes to the workplace they will be thinking safe for their own well being and not just to follow the rules. They seemed to like the presentation, but they have others to interview so i will not find out for another 2 weeks.

Posted By Merv Newman William, good to hear back from you. I like your thinking on "total safety". It's not just for the job, it's for life" Various personal appendages will remain crossed until we hear from you again. (could get uncomfortable that) Merv

Posted By Christopher Just to make you feel better. I applied for a post. The HR director took one look at the salary that I was receiving before, and said that although my application was good, that there was no point in interviewing me as I would just stay 6 months and look for a better paid job. (This is what the agency phoned and told me)!!!! I hadn't given him the benefit of my charisma, charm and .........well there isn't anything else.
