I am new to the forum so I apologise if this, or something like it has come up before.

What anecdotes regarding knee jerk corrective actions are out there?

An example of what I mean is company who banned dinner rolls after an employee managed to cut the palm of his hand with a bread knife while cutting a bun held in his hand!

I wonder, how many we can come up with?

I once worked for a company where the production manager banned cans on minerals from the canteen because an employee dropped one on their toe. Safety were not consulted on the decision.
Should he have banned plates as well, heavier and more dangerous than a can?
Cans were available from vending machines beside the canteen - how about double standards from non safety professionals

I do know of one attempted ban on Poppadoms because an employee cut the tip of the tongue on one not quite fully fried!!
