Posted By Grant Dixon I've seen the draft acops for the new regs due out next April and there seems to be quite alot of movement in how the new CDM Coordinator proves competence? The pretty standard reasoning is Corporate Membership of a professional body related to the construction Industry and a decent Health & Safety qualification. My company will only pay for one corporate membership - so do I stay a CMIOSH or do I cash it all in for MCIOB?? OR Can it be argued that IOSH IS construction related and sit pretty waiting for the regulations to come in April?? Any thoughts?

Posted By Arran Linton - Smith I would argue that the most important thing is proving the competence of your organisation for undertake this role. Does this contain other Chartered (construction) professionals?

Posted By Steve B Grant, I think you should look at the coordinator role as a "team" I am sure you will agree that the competence levels required and the work required by the coordinator is phenomenal, I have seen what the latest acop says with regards proving competence, your average lesser spotted planning supervisor would not meet the criteria in full, nor would your average construction health and safety adviser, however as a team they probably would. even as a CMIOSH this would not necessarily mean all competence levels are met...... just a thought. Regards Steve
