Posted By AlB We have portacabins which have been used for the last few months as a squat and has been used for drug abuse. The cabins were littered with needles and, in some areas human waste. Parts of the cabins are splattered with dry blood. In light of the blood stains, excrement stains and the use of the cabins as a drugs den, we are looking at a total refurbishment of the facility. This will require stripping the floorboards and the plasterboarded walls and replacing them all. The cabins will be used as a sales facility and will be used by the public. Does anyone know of any specialist contractors who can undertake the removal of the floorboards and plasterboard and dispose of them? Any additional guidance would be appreciated if you have any. Regards, A

Posted By GSP Would it not be cheaper to replace the cabin entirely..Trade it in for a higher spec new one? From experience it is often hard to completely remove smells etc contained in these sort of spaces...which is not a good environment for staff/staff trying to make sales. Customers potentially providing you with a sale are also not likely to hang about in a dated strange smelling cabin (To buy an expensive house i assume?). Look to trade it in, i think you will suprised at the cost compared od doing so, to a complete refurb/modernisation.

Posted By Merv Newman You'll never get the smell out. Burn them. In suitably safe, appropriately authorised and environmentally kind manner, of course. You may even be allowed to stroke a long-haired white cat while doing it. This is acknowledged to enhance considerably job satisfaction. Merv

Posted By Paul Leadbetter If you have to re-use the cabins, talk to your local police force to see who they use to clean up crime scenes as they will be equipped to deal with the soiling you describe. Paul

Posted By David S Burt The comments about the smell are a myth and totally unfounded. I carryout work for a specialist contractor who deals with this type of situation on a very regular basis. If you let me know which part of the country you are in my client might be able to help you. The organisation are a registered waste carrier and also only use EA Approved Waste Transfer/Treatment Sites.
