Dave,
Here is an admission of guilt. I wish I was working for the HSE!!!!!!
I have been, like so many other persons, contributing on the hse cdm web site, and have noticed, as the day draws ever nearer that not a lot of discussion on this forum is taking place.
We are all safety persons, true to say not all in construction, but it is ment to be a construtive forum, which is why a lot of question on the proposed new regs.
It is interesting to see other safety persons view of the proposed new regs, hence the reason for the questions.
Having just left the rail industry, where they are doing away with the term or saying method statement, and possibley the term risk assessment can be removed from the construction industry, and the term safe system of work will be used instead, it will be interesting to see how the role of the co-ordinator will develop, unlike the now stated planning supervisor, who basically does nothing.
I have only met and worked with 2 proactive planning supervisors, that's not saying that all PS's fall below the required standard, there are very competent planning supervisors, I have only worked with 2, one of them was an x hse inspector, and the other is a QS, sorry for swearing.
I feel that the new co-ordinator will have to be more pro-active, advise a lot more, do what they are supposed to do. RIP PS.
Regards
