My company has recently bought a lease on a building about 6 miles from our current location where basically things will be stored on pallets etc. So fork truck usage will be used there will be two people go there never one so there is no lone worker issues.

I have completed a risk assessment in this i have a couple of issues which i wondered if anyone else has had experience and/or guidance.

1. Am I correct in thinking when having a Lease they are owners of the building so are responsible for getting fire extinguishers in etc, or is it ours.

2. With regards first aid would you ensure one of the two people are trained and first aid equipment on site or are there other ways you would attack this.

Any views or guidance on the pitfalls involving a project like this would be most welcome.

Regards
Alan

The first one depends on what type of lease you have. If it's a full repairing and insuring lease you will be responsible for all fire fighting equipment etc.

As far as first aid goes I would provide equipment and train them both if it were me. I don't think just training one would be suficient, what if he were the injured party? You could opt for appointed person training though.

1. Depends on the terms of the lease.

2. Depends on the hazards and risk on site, office environment or industrial workshop? The employer has to decide on the likelyhood of injury, proxmity of ambulanc.

Ase, casualty dept etc etc etc

3 Think of holidays etc

It may not be necessary but you should have something to say about what to do in the event off!

Ask yourself what if and how likely and then take it from there!
