Posted By J Knight The simple answer is that there is no H&S law relating to accident books; accident books have to be kept to comply with Social Security law.
If you want an entry in the book, anybody can complete it, it doesn't have to be the injured person or a witness to the accident, so you can complete it yourself.
It is worth bearing in mind though that employees do have a legal duty to 'co-operate' with their employer for H&S, and employment contracts often include a clause about obeying H&S rules. So check the contract, find out if you have rules that say that accidents have to be written in the book, and if so, send out a note to all staff (or get your boss to do it depending on your position and clout in the company) saying that in future all accidents have to be recorded, and the next time he refuses you should be able to insist,

Posted By Darren J Fraser Page 5 of BI510 (HSE Accident Book)answers your question in detail. If you are not using this then the following is stated
When you are injured at work, the says you have to tell your employer as soon as you can. You can do this by recording your accident in this book. Anyone else can do this on your behalf. Recording your accident will help you to protect your right to Social Security benefits.

Posted By Tabs Be grateful they are reporting it, and write the accident into the book yourself (also note their comment about it happening at other times too).
Save the fights for the big issues, trust me, they are out there.
