Posted By Karen Hi I have been asked to set up a simple access database to monitor training provision and other information for our site staff. Has anyone else produced something similar that they will be prepared to share or show to me to help get me started? Many thanks in advance. Karen

Posted By RP You could make use of MS Office Access to make up a database.

Posted By Karen Thanks RP As mentioned in my first posting, that is exactly what I have been asked to do. I have not used Access before and am currently frantically working through the various tutorials etc, but was hoping that maybe some kind person could help me out and prevent me from going totally mad. As I am sure you can appreciate access is not the easiest of packages to master for a non-IT safety advisor! Therefore if anyone can provide an example database for me to work from I'd really appreciate it. Karen

Posted By JasonGould Hi Karen I will send you a simple excel sheet that KPI tracks training. It may need some adjustment to suit yourself but with a little bit of excel skill, you should be able to create a nice little tool. At the moment it only tracks those whom training is desired, those not trained, those in training and those trained. It kinda works out the percentages and then gives overall results. It does not however set review dates but i am sure that with the magic of excel formulas and conditional formatting, it can also highlight expired training. I am also sure that you could probably adjust it to show candidate feedback scores or price. I started to build it but never got to Finnish with all those extras bits (reason being = only needed it for a kpi assignment not for real world) To be honest, I would much rather stick to a excel sheet if I had no access knowledge. Let me know if you think it could help.

Posted By Angela Hayden Hi Karen I use Access Databases a lot for recording information and especially training. It would be difficult to send you a copy of the database as there are a lot of records in here and obviously personal information too. If you e-mail me I could probably send you a copy of the input form and the report checklist that I use to review the training from it. I could also probably talk you through setting up a database, depending on how complicated you need it to be - would be good if you had a bit of knowledge as you will need to design it yourself. Ang.
