Hi Lads/Lasses
Just a quick poser for you LOLER experts out there ! I've been on a site today where a company is fitting double glazed windows using hand operated glass lifters or suckers as some people call them. I think thats what they call them or they're calling me it !! Question is, i know that they would have to carry out a daily inspection of this equipment, for signs of deterioration in the rubber gasket etc and make a record of it every 7 days, but are they subject to a periodic inspection as is other lifting accessories ?

JJ, I think "the toecap" is right. From memory, these hand held "suckers" (and yes that is what they are called) are classed as handling aids and not lifting equipment.
They either work or they don't and other than visually checking the rubber cup there is little else to check or examine.
Multiple pad lifting frames that are attached to lifting equipment such as cranes are a different beast and do come under LOLER.
But as I said this done from memory and not current involvement so please check elsewhere if it is critical to you.
