Posted By Barry Cooper At our company we have many activities where engineers have to climb onto the machinery to gain access to bearings, rolls, etc. No space to use a conventional mobile tower or anything like that. It has been suggested that we consider Lobo system, which allows you to install a scaffold in situ. Has anyone had experience of this type of equipment, if so, I would appreciate feedback Barry

Posted By IC Rogers MIOSH Cert Ed Barry, Having just visited Lobo Systems, I must say I was very impressed with their equipment. As a height access and fall protection assessor, Lobo System is very versitile and would fulfil the needs. Please feel free to ring and discuss Roy Rogers MIOSH Cert Ed

Posted By db Just a few points you might like to check with the manufacturer or someone who has used it - and I've only seen the video on the website so I can only comment on that but- 1. There doesnt seem to be very good access from a ladder other than climbing over the rail or any decent ladder attachment point. 2. There doesnt seem to be a safe way to put the system together without standing in a place of danger before the guard rails are put in place. PASMA training for mobile towers gives two ways of erecting a tower so that operative can stay within a guarded area - i.e. through the trap method or advanced guard rail. Probably couldnt use a harness while doing this. It might just be that the video doesn't show it and they are issues that have been addressed but in essence without these it does not comply with wah regs. Then again, they are better than just using a ladder.

Posted By db Ah! There are other videos which show how it can be done - but they dont show this on the main video and its difficult to see how it can be done safely in all circumstances, but it seems like a good system. Proper training will be essential though.
