Posted By Tabs It has been a few years since I had them side by side, but Ridley used to win most times. That was because he used to cover more things in better detail, in my opinion.
There were times though, that Ridley let me down and Tolley came to the rescue.
It is mainly style though. Choose a subject that you mostly understand, and then read both author's offerings. Whichever makes the subject clear to you, is going to be the book best suited to you.

Posted By Philip McAleenan Tolley is very good for interpretation. Ridley is good for detailed information on many subjects, useful for preparing training materials, study for examinations (e.g. NEBOSH) understanding processes etc. If you have both books you have an excellent resource for many of your OSH questions. Don’t forget to use Tolley in conjunction with the actual acts and regulations obtainable from the Internet (http://www.statutelaw.gov.uk/)
