Hi Folks

a colleague has just asked me if there is any legal requirement for having baby changing facilities in a building open to the public?

Anyone got any ideas...I don't think there is and I have Googled it.

With thanks

Not aware of any legal requirements, however, I would say it depends upon the nature of the business as to whether there is a real need for such facilities thus generating more business as a result.

Hi to the peops that have responded.

Have also had feedback from others and everyone agrees no there isn't.

My facility is a hospice for adults and although we do get babes in arms visiting patients, it would not be necessary here if there is no legislation...if you get my drift.

So thanks to both of you for your contribution to this debate

I think if you know that relatives are going to be turning up with babies, it makes sense to provide somewhere discreet for babies, and breast feeding mothers to use if they choose to do so. You don't need legislation for that just a little chunk of 'human kindness' A hospice is a sensitive place, holistic care of patients, family, and visitors are integral to the overall service provision.
