Under the present regs it would depend on the size of the project - 500 person hours etc. The new regs (2007)all construction project fall under the auspices of CDM, notifiable or not.

Just to be totally correct all construction WORK will be subject to the new regulations due in April 07, notifiable or not. It is the extent that the regulations apply that varies.

This guy has asked a question and a simple answer should suffice.

Without knowing the ins and outs of the project a small block of flats will qualify for CDM as the time and number of persons on site will almost certainly be more than the minimum.

Come on chaps can't we just give a simple answer without being too technical?

Perhaps Raymond and I felt the search was for an exam/coursework situation and the person was not familiar with construction. It is also the sort of question many small potential construction clients ask as well as subcontractors moving up a league.

Anyway if you remember the NEBOSH days the question does not always reflect the information required.

Agree with Crim.

Almost certainly it will trigger the relevant threshold values

Simple question perhaps, but a reasonable assumption that work has not yet started and therefore it is very likely to start under the new CDM regs - hence the explanation. Second point, the question posed referred to a 'small block of flats,' hence it is another reasonable assumption the work invloved construction.

Let's not be too picky, eh.
