Posted By JonCMIOSH Hi Jack Can't remember for definite - man at work sign(with umbrella) with additional wording underneath stating 'No Entry High Pressure jet washing' rings a bell. Need barriers of course. I can't see it in my Water Jetting Association handbook. www.waterjetting.org.uk are the people to chat to. They provide excellent training as well. Jon

Prior to retirement from this activity, my company ensured that the equipment was up to the task, coshh had been followed to the letter, the actual working area was cordoned off, electricity was mainly provided by Jennie so NO SMOKING was a biggie as was PPE for gloves visor wetsuit etc, signs were displayed to caution people about "ONLY FULLY TRAINED OPERATIVES MAY......WASHING HANDS....PROTECTIVE CLOTHING....NO SMOKING...FUEL....Etc.
We managed over a 21 year period to satisfy several EHO inspections and as memory serves me I believe we had no incidents that arose in all the years we did this. HPJ underground for storm or foul lines is another issue altogether.
Best wishes to you

Are you asking what Signage should be used for the activity of "Washing Lorries down with High Pressure Water.??
Simple
"No Entry, High Pressure Water Jet Washing"
Could put "Hearing Protection Required" Pictogram above the statement , as most Jetting Activities require this.
More importantly, where practicable make a safety zone (10m) -barrier tape from the activity this will prevent unwanted persons from being hit by pressurised water or ejected debris from lorries, also gives Jetter time to see persons not heeding this warning
Currently Jetting using 40,000psig if need further advice
