Posted By GavinR Hi, Would anyone be able to help me find a supplier of chemical resistant wellington type boots. We are looking for boots that would protect against a potential spillage of nitric acid while we are in the middle of redevloping a process. The only supplier we have been able to locate through PPE suppliers has now stopped making this type of boot and long periods searching through google has not been successful. If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great! Cheers, G

Posted By GavinR The people that supply the boots to arco no longer manufacture these boots thats why i'm looking else where. And jom -no the plan is obviously not to spill nitric acid but what we want to make sure is that if this were to happen the operator would be adequately protected! I'm not talking a major spillage but more just possible splash or drip onto their feet. There is the a very low possibilty for this to happen with the current work process which we are changing but it will be a few months before the new system is in place. We are simply taking precautions to give added protection in the interim period.

Posted By Chris Packham What strength nitric acid are we dealing with here? If it is just splash protection then a normal rubber boot would provide reasonable protection, provided immediate action was taken to either flush away the acid or remove the affected footwear. Presumably you will also be looking at appropriate clothing (a much bigger problem) or will the splash always be limited to the feet and lower leg? Chris

Posted By Martin Fish I'm presuming from your description you mean the bright green Bata HAZMAX boots. I also used to source these from Arco. I believe that Respirex have now acquired the rights to this brand. Full details are on their website: http://www.respirex.co.uk
