Interesting article, obviously this could have gone in a completely H+S mad way, but to their credit not only did the enlist the help of reputable expereinced HSE staff and various other professionals they reported it in a responsable way.

Summary for those not wanting to go to the link, child gets face photocopied at school, mum calls up and complains as son has sore eyes, BBC look in to actual risk and report sensibly.

Maybe there not all mad :-)

thanks for the link. Interesting and refreshing lead. Lets hope the red top rags don't have 18 "bonkers" stories next week to restore the balance.

Well done BBC.
I liked the response from one person:
"This story is the perfect example of the phenomenon of "if the headline of a story takes the form of a question then the answer to the question is almost certain to be No..." Nothing to see here, move along please."

Maybe people really are getting bored of silly "safety" stories that turn out to be nothing.

I was puzzled by the first response on the BBC page - "nanny state gone mad" - eh? I can't see any nanny-state references in the story.

I suppose some people think "safety story" = "nanny state story."
