From an equipment specification perspective, what are the maximum noise levels which are specified (under UK legislation) at 1 metre from the equipment when operational in an area.
Please specify reference legislation.

I understood that they'd been revised downwards to 80dB It was 85dB(A). A good rule of thumb is whether a normal conversation can take place without raising your voice on whether you have a noise issue.

Bare in mind that the level of Noise exposure may reach First or Second actions at a distance greater than 1 metre.

The UK Noise at Work legislation is about exposure to noise and therefore the distance from the machine is irrelevant, as you may be required to be nearer then the '1 metre' from the equipment.
Perhaps if you expand on what you are using this data for it will be easier to provide a more definitive statement

forgot to mention - you would also need to consider the effect of multiple sources of noise having a combined effect that exceeds the legislative levels even though individual items don't

Posted By Bill Parkinson Caithriona The noise levels refer to personal daily dose (based on 8 hours exposure) and therefore you need to be careful of using a 1 metre rule.
