Posted By Geoff Parkinson Does anyone have any experience in the above. We currently have a few homeworkers and assessing them hasn't been too difficult. However, the homeworking numbers are expected to swell dramatically soon and I'm looking for an online system for people to carry out DSE assessments.
I know a couple of businesses that have gone down this route, but I don't know where, or who, to approach for the IT.

Posted By AHS I dont believe that would fulfill DSE regulation 7 although it would cover reg 7. Ergonomic assessment requires a competent person to observe.

As a health/safety ergonomist and behavioural psychologist, I also v. much question how well your approach will lead to compliance with both the DSE Regs and more importantly the health surveillance requirements of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regs 1999 and associated ACOP.
While online DSE assessments can be a valid method of health surveillance, without excellent education and training of DSE users in behavioural safety, you leave yourself wide open to risks of substantial claims for damages for personal injury (and possibly for failure to comply with disability discrimination, in the event that an injury goes unmanaged for over a year).
You can choose to invest in training your people in self-managed behavioural safety alongside the online monitoring or in paying by a factor of 3.5 or higher in litigation for the full costs of inadequate compliance.
