Can any one give me some advice as to what to put in a letter to my boss to fund my IOSH membership this year. I have taken a pay cut recently and £87.00 for the membership is loads for someone who is only on 21.000 with car loans mortgage etc (will not boar you all). Ps could you post it on here and not my email address as it is not working cheers P.

Not to sure of your line of work, but accreditation to a professional body is always recommended when clients are carrying out competency checks, this might assist with future contracts. You could also check with your companies insurance provider to see if it drops the premium? Do other employees have membership of professional organisations? If so argue that fact?

what about the fact that you get access to an incredible wealth of knowledge on h & s, free technical information and of course, a free legal helpline?

Irrespective of all the other benefits, surely the latter alone justifies membership?

Just my humble opinion...

All of this useful stuff is available at the click of a mouse or by just picking up the phone. And then come to the secret password that often unlocks Senior Managements wallets.. the word 'FREE'! It's amazing.. eyes light up and suddenly they are interested in what you are saying.. It's also worth adding that if he had to pay privately for all of these services it would cost the company a lot of money.
