Does anyone know what the wind limit is when working on scaffolding?
I think i was told 17 mph. Well a few weeks ago when we had gale force winds of upto 100mph my companies main health and safety guy was showing site agents and subbies how to hoist a upvc window with double glazing to the third floor on a scaffold. The winds must have been 65mph that afternoon. I would have said something but being a joiner employee studying the nebosh general certificate he would probably have said you don't know what your talking about.

Hi Brian, could you give some more detail in the operation; specific lifting method etc. Did you think there was unacceptable risk involved ? was the lifting operation successful, did you express your concerns to your foreman/supervisor?
Mark.

Brian,

the National Access and Scaffold Confederation (www.nasc.org.uk) would be my starting point.
