Hi Guys

Due to the regular media coverage over immigrant workers working in the UK without proper work permits etc ...conveying that the employer as well as employee could be prosecuted and possibly jailed.

In Construction/Building industry

If the employee is employed by a sub-contractor.

What duty is owed by a Main Contractor and could they be prosecuted also,would they be responsible to ensure the relevant paperwork is evident.

Would it be pertinant to ask for copies of relevant papers.

there is an interesting case being considered at present re vic liability re who employs who & who has the liability / duties

the main contractor should know what is happening on their site - illegial immigrants or otherwise
