I am considering using different colours of paint for floors in the factory. I was considering the following
Green - safe areas, pedestrian routes etc
Red - At-risk areas, authorised persons only. No go area for pedestrians e.g. work areas where machine operatives are aware of the dangers, crane movements, FLT routes etc.
Yellow/black hatch - Specific Hazards e.g. trip hazard, ramps,
Does anyone know if there is a UK standard, (similar for drain covers)

Not really answering the specific question (I do not believe there is but am interested to be proved wrong). What I do want to chip in is what has been done in this large office block. All the possible routes to fire exits are marked with red carpet tiles- so in case of a fire/power cut/poor visibility if you find a red carpet you know that following it will get you to an exit- like the strips you get on aircraft I suppose.

I think you got the colours Barry, See Safety Signs and signal Regulations and if you search the HSE web site you will find supporting information to help.

Barry, There is an International Standard for demarcation Aisles, Walkways, & Storage etc NOSA used to have and it is adopted by BSC in their six star audit I believe. I will try an dig it out for you later, but you are on the right track I believe without referencing the documentation that yellow and black chevron is used to indicate a strike into hazard, red as you say are danger areas, working areas Blue? and green or grey for aisles, walkways. Fire Points, Electrical switch gear etc was also to be indicated ( red and white lines??)
hope this helps
be patient with me hahaha
