Posted By Jeff Upex I will try this again. I will be moving back home to Middlesbrough around August 2007 after 13 successful years here in the states.
I hold many qualifications including a degree MBA for Occupational Health and Safety.
My goal is to continue in this industry but will need advice on how to transfer my qualifications to the British standards.
What would I need to develop a business in the UK as a safety consultancy?
Any help would be greatful,

Posted By Clare Gabriel Surprisingly you dont need a lot!!! Obviously a reputation helps so you will need to start making contact with organsiations either before or on your return. Try and get someone to send you out a copy of the IOSH magazine SHP as there is loads of information on consultancies many of whom employ associates which is an excellent way to get back into the industry. It is quite likely that also you will be a bit out fo date with the legislation so maybe some form of refresher course might be a good idea as there is so much thats new.
Also there are lots of employment agencies offering short to long term contracts and again that might be a way of getting yourself up to date again with guaranteed money.
Dont forget you will need professional indemnity insurance and also perhaps some kind of liability insurance which can be pricey, but it s a brave consultant that goes out without it.
Good luck!!!!!

Posted By Jeff Upex I have lived under legisative conditions the day I landed in Oregon USA. I don't mind rules that help improve the industry. What has always irritated since living here many who enforce rules in many cases have less experience than the people there trying to control. God Bless America! I hope it's not the same in England. But to run a business there I will fall in line. I have a plan!
