Posted By Robert K Lewis You have answered your own question in many ways. The detailed requirements are set out in the acops that have been provided for the new regulations. Both are available for purchase at HSE books. I would recommend that both are required although only the main acop deals with the specific training needs. In general terms the training is staged dependant on the type of work that is to be undertaken. The vaste bulk of the people coverd by the new requirements will need the one day awareness programme, as they will only incidently meet asbestos during their work. I would advise against doing this yourself unless you have demonstrable asbestos competency as there are requirements for certification even at this level.
