Posted By Robert K Lewis You have answered your own question in many ways. The detailed requirements are set out in the acops that have been provided for the new regulations. Both are available for purchase at HSE books. I would recommend that both are required although only the main acop deals with the specific training needs. In general terms the training is staged dependant on the type of work that is to be undertaken. The vaste bulk of the people coverd by the new requirements will need the one day awareness programme, as they will only incidently meet asbestos during their work. I would advise against doing this yourself unless you have demonstrable asbestos competency as there are requirements for certification even at this level. It really does depend on whether you are managing work or actually undertaking it that is the key driver on choices. Contact me if you need to carry the discussion forward. Bob

Posted By Dave Wilson Reg 10 in ACoP The HSE strongly recommend that you use a training provider on the HSE www list of Asbestos Training Providers. These people / organisations have demonstrated knowledge of the industry etc and have signed up to the Asbestos Training Providers Working Group Code of Conduct. They are externally audited so that their training is of an acceptable standard and in compliance with the ACoP, if not the HSE will remove you from the list. 1/2 day asbestos awareness training for all persons in construction and the allied building trades(group 3)repeated annually usually as part of a general H&S day Full day for 'unlicensed work' on asbestos repeated annually (Group2) Group 1 for Asbestos workers who work for Asbestos licensed contractors - this includes managers and directors. Hope that helps
