Posted By Adrian Watson I think the idea of merging the commission and executive is a stupid and short sighted move. The idea of having a Commission was to prevent political interference and allow all sides to have an equal say. I think that it is rather unfortunate that the commission has delegated too many of its responsibilities to the executive, thus leading to poor legislation and poorer guidance. If they wish to slimline the process get rid of the commission so that the executive reports directly to the minister, that way we can hold both of them to account for HSE's lack of resources and the poor of enforcement. That way we can hold both that minister accountable for HSE's lack of resources and HSE accountable for the poor standards of enforcement. (p.s. I still don't believe that sending out advisory letters is really enforcement!) Regards Adrian Watson

Posted By MT No, not a good thing. A badly thought out, thinly-veiled attempt at cost-cutting. It is going to have a devastating effect on the already poor working relationship and interaction between HSE and LA enforcement officers. Apparently LA Liaison roles are already being given the heave. Bad for enforcement staff and bad for enforcement.
