Posted By Kenneth Patrick Who is the H&S enforcing authority for " one man band" roofing contractors and how do they go about their enforcing?

Posted By Ali It depends on what premises they are working on. However, check out the Enforcing Authority Regulations on the HSE website. Good luck !

Posted By ddraigice Roofing will always be coverd by HSE as they cover construction activities or any maintenance which occurs on the external fabric of any building - including those enforced by LA's.
See:
http://intranet/operational/ocs/100-199/124_11/124_11t.htm#TopOfPage
and do a search for construction.
LA's only cover non-notifiable internal work where the work does not need to be segregated from the public.
HSE enforce RC's by investigating accidents, complaints or just by spotting them when they are out and about. Which HSE don't do much of these days.

Posted By Kenneth Patrick Thanks, So I presume this covers work on domestic premises in which case I would be interested to know how HSE "police" that.

Posted By ddraigice As no F10 need be given for these types of jobs (as they are mostly non-notifiable) they rely on complaints from members of the public or from people who are paying good money to do the job properly only to see cowboys do it for 50 quid without scaffolding!
