Posted By GWP Can anyone help with advice or the name of a company that could advise on short duration work on pitched roofs (domestic). The length of time can be from 5mins upwards. There is no possibility of using anchor points.

Posted By Darren Beavan I am assuming your interest in short duration work is because of the need to avoid the use of perimeter scaffolding to prevent falls. If this is the case and you are intending to use roof ladders then this may be acceptable subject to the type of work being done (light duty). You should however give due consideration to how you intend to gain access to the roof ladder and indeed position it in the first place. The practice of using a standard ladder from the ground has its risks in this situation and I have had some success using modular access systems like Easi Dec. These can provide stable working platforms at eaves levels and can actually be moved by hand between adjacent residents. They are quick and easy to assemble and quite versatile.

Posted By GWP Darren You are correct in thinking that we are trying to avoid perimeter scaffolding. We are looking for a system probably like Easi Dec. If anyone could help in identifying the systems that they use and their experiences I would be grateful. Thanks GWP

Posted By Ali We use Easi-Dec followed by chimney scaffold or roof ladder (for light work of short duration). If chimney is robust you could assess it's suitability for fixing anchor points.Otherwise, there is the MEWP that has it's own limitations.

Posted By anon1234 I presume that you only go on each roof once e.g fixing a TV aerial etc

Posted By GWP Ali I have been on the easi dec website, it looks promising. The system for roof access and then access to the chimney/roof is what I am interested in. Do you no if they provide on site training or do the operators need to go on a PASMA course.

Posted By David Tilsley-Curtis GWP If you are working on or around the chimney area, there is a quite simple and well recognnised method using ladders, and work positioning systems. I can send you details of the sort of thing if you wish. Regards David
