Posted By gavin goulden having had a company car for just over one year my company wish to remove all private mileage. this is across the country taking cars off us and giving us vans and only available for work use only. it is written in my contract to provide a car for private use. so how much will my company offer to rewrite my contract. also when i am on call can i use the van for private use as i need to attend site on call 24 hours a day any info would be helpful

Posted By Stupendous Man Gavin, With reference to the part of your query regarding private use whilst on call. You will normally find that the insurance policies companies have will provide cover for 'authorised use' or 'use with permission'. Therefore, if your company does not authorise or permit private use, you will not be able to drive irrespective of your curcumstances. I would suggest that you may be able to approach your employer to see if they will permit 'any use whilst on call'.
