Posted By Fred Pratley Our various buildings have been smoke free for a number of years now, so the new no smoking regs are of no great concern (except for having to slap No-Smoking signs on the MD's office block). However, our buildings are close together and as soon as the windows get opened in the warm weather, there will be complaints about the smell from smoke drifting into buildings etc. With the arrival of the new regs, I have 2 questions 1. Must we shift the smokers away from windows etc where it is reported that smoke gets into buildings? I found a partial answer in HSE guidance - http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg293.htm - this indicates a workplace free from the irritation of smoke is already mandatory!? 2. Must we also shift them from doorways and entrances to go in and out of work under the new regs? Both moves will be highly unpopular with smokers (being an ex-addict- tobacco that is, I have some sympathy) as we have no space for smoking shelters. Thanks Fred
