Posted By noiseman I am becoming concerned about the amount of advertising in this magazine in particular the ever increasing amount of inserts. Can one opt to not have this magazine and get a discount on their membership?

Posted By holmezy Think you will probably get into the discussion regarding the adverts, inserts etc, (which are revenue generators for SHP), contributing to keeping the cost down and therefore giving us a magazine at a negligable price. If you wanted a magazine with no adverts or inserts, it would probably cost you more.

Posted By TBC The adverts are informative in many ways other than just bringing revenue in. They show where items may be purchased (goods and courses) and they often bring new developments in technology to light as well as jobs for some. Just one side of the argument for them.

Posted By David Bannister I tend to rip off the plastic cover and shake vigorously above a waste paper bin - usually works for me.

Posted By Crim Noiseman is right! I too am fed up with junk mail and as a safety and environment friendly profession we should be looking at ways to reduce waste and help save a few rain forests. Can I please opt out of receiving the inserts that just go into my bin and take up more of my time when it comes to sorting out my rubbish for re-cycling?

Posted By srd I have no objection to the inserts. As I don't read the magazine in one session, I tend to use the inserts as bookmarks. Stephen.
