Posted By Scott d Hi Richard, I am sure that somebody will correct me if I am wrong, however, I believe that this is a subscription that entitiles you to download HSE publications for free and I believe that you would pay a monthly subscription. I have heard wispers that this service will be free of charge in the very near future and I would be interested if anybody could confirm this. Scott

Posted By CRN Baker Hi, I pay an annual fee for HSE Direct. I have just checked and the current fees are £20 + VAT for a day ticket or £299 + VAT for a 24/7/365 ticket. I use it for getting hold of the legislation, ACOPs, HSGs etc. There are other alternatives which provide similar information e.g. Tech Indexes and Croners. Might be worth seeing if you can get access to a trial with the different providers to see what suits you best. HTH

Posted By Martin Mulholland I pay an annual subscription for HSE Direct and its a good service in the main apart from: 1- the user interface is not very friendly. 2- the searches do not return accurate results. 3- recent publications are not included for quite some time after they have been published by HSE (the new CDM ACoP is a case in point - its still not on HSE Direct (as of 15-03-07)even after 1 month since publication!) £300 is alot of money to pay for tardy information

Posted By Dave McIness I did use HSE Direct a few years ago but one of the things that I didn't like about it, other than the above comments was the quality of the documents and how they are presented. They were not comparable to the presentation of the actual ACOP's etc I think that they were more HTML format? I'd be interested to hear if this is still the case or whether or not the documents are now exact PDF's of the comparable printed versions.

Posted By J Knight Hi folks, No they're not PDFs, but they can now be downloaded in Word format which is better. I have mixed feelings, but I feel it has been worth the money for me. However, there are (as stated above) that because of FOI legislation almost all of HSE's catalogue should be being made available free later this year, John
