Is anyone aware of any specific requirements for overalls/coveralls whilst TIG welding aluminium?

Posted By Malcolm Fryer Ian What is the hazard that you are trying to protect against? I would imagine that you may well be considering radiation sources apart from normal hygiene issues. One area of any type of overall used in conjunction with any welding activity would be heat radiation and the possible need for flame retardancy of any garment worn. The Welding Institute http://www.twi.co.uk/j32k/index.xtp has a world class reputation for providing advice on all areas of welding technology including safety. For some of the hazards associated with TIG welding of aluminium have a look at http://www.murexwelding....0&%20TIG%20Catalogue.PDFYou could try posting a question on a welding forum such as http://www.ukwelder.com/forum/I hope that this assists you. Posted By Saracen11 Hi Iain, overalls would be the 'last resort' in the hierarchy of control measures, identified in your RA... as being PPE. There is not way a hands on welder (as opposed to a robot) can avoid being effected by the intensity of the heat produced when doing any type of welding; MIG/TIG/ARC etc... Overalls should be the right size, laundered correctly, stored suitably, replaced when damaged, flameproof and as far as possible heat resistant - don't forget the sparks!

Thanks for all the responses, had covered everything with the RA specifically with regards to the heat/radiation issue.
Thanks again.
