Hello

I made researches on pesticides and found that many of the active ingredients are not assigned with a wel but LD50 are available.

Can I use the the LD50 instead of the wel to inform users on the limit to be used and how do I interprete the LD5o

thanks

Since, by definition, the LD50 kills half of those animals exposed, I think the figures are inappropriate as a substitute for WELs. However, they could be used to rank the materials by toxicity. Are there any occupational exposure limits published elsewhere (TLVs, MAKs, etc.)?

For checking limit values of other countries this is the best available source at the moment.
http://www.hvbg.de/e/bia.../limit_values/index.html

The ACGIH TLV list has about 55 pesticides. Pre-2005 UK OES list about 45. Other countries have much the same list. I think the number of permitted pesticides is still about 10 times that number. You will probably draw a blank as there is virtually no independent development of LVs outside the countries in the above database.
I know this doesn't answer the general question about pesticides which have no LV but I thought the database info would be useful to some.

I noticed that the ACGIH TLVs are not included in the BGIA database, only the OSHA PELs. Might be a copyright problem.
