Posted By Kevin Kelly I noticed in the HSA newsletter dated Dec 06 an article on man baskets on teleporters and forklifts. It states that the basket must be integrated into the machine(the machine must be controllable from the basket). However there seems to be a grey area regarding what level of control is required, ie is it acceptable to have just an isolation "e-stop" or are full controls needed.
I have researched this but cannot find a definitive that I can pass onto the subcontractors on site. Does anybody have any further info, if so it would be gratefully accepted.

Posted By Kevin Kelly Afternoon Lads,
The HSA (Ireland's equilevant of the HSE) issued the document over here in Ireland so I don't think it would have any effect on PM28. The direrction they gave didn't really clarify what was acceptable and what wasn't. Their viewpoint is that forklifts and teleporters were not designed for lifting personnel and therefore are unlikely to be the most suitable work equipment for working at height.
