whats the difference between Fire Order england and Scottish one
Rank: Guest
|
Posted By tony fog Hi all, I'm due to complete fire risk assessments for a client...competent to do this, not a problem but two are in Scotland so looked at the fire reform Scottish act, and can't seem to find one, just relates to the same order as the rest of UK. I'm presuming both are the same, as regulations are regulations and best practice is best practice!!, but the Scottish one had to be passed by Scottish parliament?, hence the difference
Comments would be welcome
Thanks

Posted By J Knight Hi Tony,
Not quite sure what you mean by saying you couldn't find one, did you mean an enactment or any differences? Scotland is covered by the Fire (Scotland) Act of 2005, which has, as far as fire safety risk assessment is concerned, exactly the same effect as the RR(FS)O has for England and Wales, and in fact has very much the same wording. So we are assuming that the Fire Safety RAs for our two Scottish Care Centres and 100 or so Charity shops will look and work very much like their English equivalents. Hope this helps,
John

Posted By J Knight PS You can find the full text of the Act and explanatory notes on www.opsi.gov.uk; a search under the Act's name will take you straight to it, John
