Is anyone out there:

a) a proud holder of GradIOSH?
b) trying their best with their IPD and finding it difficult understanding exactly how to get it done?
c) living or working in London?

If so, you're in the same position as me. Going along with the theory that a fresh pair of eyes / support / chance to rant can make the impossible much easier, I'm wondering if anyone like me would appreciate meeting up and finding out how other people are coping with IPD?

I'm sure I'm finding some criteria easier than others and could help, and would appreciate some of the same. Having no other safety professional colleagues in my organisation, and no one I know doing the IPD, I'd certainly benefit from getting together with other people going through it.

If you're interested in arranging something, drop me a line.

Al.

Aside from taking the open assessment, continuing on with your CPD (as you would have done at tech level) attending the Initial peer Review Interview at the Grange (or possibly more local as time goes on)

What is troubling you at the moment? I would be delighted to talk with you by phone, alas I am not in your area. Don't hesitate to contact me directly by the link, I'll help in any way I can.

Which route did you take, Degree, NVQ, or Diploma, as it makes a difference to the assessment.

All the best

CFT (yes, 'Grad' at the moment)

Richard,

Sadly i am not in your area, but rest assured, you are definitely not the only one struggling with IPD.

Having kept in touch with people i attended my diploma course with, and having met new IOSH members at my local branch meeting, i can safely say that it appears to be a 'problem' for quite a few people.

a)having read the IPD info many times, I'm still unsure about how to start the whole thing.
b)finding the time to tackle IPD is proving to be almost impossible.
c)will really struggle to provide evidence to support the things i eventually put into my IPD folder (as my company do not hold official meetings, record minutes, answer emails etc.)

The question rolling around my head at the minute is.........is becoming a full IOSH member really worth this hassle?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not afraid of hard work (it has taken a lot to get where i am now), but with many sites to 'take care of', I'm simply not sure i have the time.

Hi Richard

Your certainly not the only one struggling with this, I'm supposed to be doing the "fast track" route to CMIOSH as I used to be TechSP. It's the same process as IPD but without the time requirement (I think). I work in London so would be happy to meet up if possible, I'm in the Paddington area. Like SLS says, I'm wondering if it's really worthwhile spending the time and effort required when I can get full membership of IIRSM with what I've got now and that seems to be just as well accepted.

Definately not a "proud holder of GradIOSH" as I think it makes me sound like I've just got out of college or something. I use the letters Dip2IOSH rather than GradIOSH.

Good luck with it.
