Posted By Bob Shillabeer What's the point of the printing industry?? Noise is noise whatever the source the NAW Regs apply and the remedies are the same in that the noise must be properly controlled. It doesnt matter what the source is the general requirements apply. So why printing industry in particular?

Posted By Sally I'm guessing from your query that its a specific document that you have seen that you are trying to trace. Reports on noise mapping in the paper industry which has many similarities to the printing industry can be found at http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/noisindx.htm and you may find these of use.

Posted By Paul Durkin Thanks !! Bob, If noise IS noise why bother to make the comment? I was merely seeking some background. This was sprung on me like an Easter bunny. Why re-invent the print wheel? I have found loads of helpful info. from this site about tractor & music noise !! why not print machines? Thanks Andrew, I will get the HSE publication. Regards,Paul

Posted By Peter Leese Bob - what's the point? Well it just might be in the print industry they have some special issues, and maybe even some industry standards to work to. Or even some specific guidance from the HSE or the print union. So the point is, that by asking the question Paul has shown an open mind, he has shown that he is willing to look for information outside the 'box', and that he is looking for some constructive help. I don't have a problem with that, do you?

Posted By Merv Newman Looking for H&S info that refers directly to your industry or situation is much more efficient than looking at generic stuff that could apply to anyone. You don't have to do the mental gymnastics necessary to apply the generic stuff to your print shop. Someone has already done it for you. Fine, the legislation is the same for everyone. But we all need a bit of help and guidance from the experts. And preferably OUR experts. If only to reduce the brainstrain. Merv
