Fork Lift Truck - Safety Clothing Requirements

We have just acquired a new Bendi Fork Lift Truck at work and are waiting for it to be delivered but are a little unsure about safety clothing requirements for the users. I can't seem to find any useful sites on line which outline current legislation and wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction?

Don't know about specific legislation and PPE depends on your local situation and local rules.
I would prefer to see truckies wearing safety shoes and glasses and hi-vis vests as a minimum. Hard hats and gloves will depend on what you are asking them to do : risk exposure.
Truckies tend to resist all of the above saying that they are protected by the cabin.
Don't let them get away with that.

Fantastic, thank you for your help. We already have high viz vests in use, so on the right track. Our company is an online retailer of fancy dress costumes, so the stock is not very heavy or dangerous - Do you still think that glasses and shoes are required?
Thanks,
Nicki

Agree with Merv on the last point.
Drivers are only protected by the cabin if they spend the whole shift in there without moving.
In reality, they are likely to climb in & out regularly to communicate with drivers, take shipping notes to the office, go to lunch, the loo, etc, etc.
So safety shoes & hi-vis are probably a minimum with additional measures depending on other site factors covered by your own assessment.
