Posted By rsellars I work in a coldstore where the floors are deteriorating allowing the rails for the mobile racking to move. When a reachtruck travels over some of these rails the drivers get a severe jolt which results in drivers complaining of bad backs. Have I read the wbv regs correctly that if wbv is suspected the company must investigate and if this is the case where do you get the measuring equipment from?

Posted By Alan Hoskins Hi R, This is not something you would generally do yourself - it's not just a case of hiring measuring equipment, but being competent in its use and in the interpretation of the results. I would suggest contacting an Occupational Hygienist, preferably one that specialises in this type of work. Alan

Posted By Bob Youel measuring WBV is very complicated, costly and almost impossible in an average workplace even with specialist equip & competent people in place [I have extensive experience re vibration measurement - & no; I am not volunteering] why don't you get * the floor areas repaired [as having a suitable and sufficient floor is common sense and also a requirement of the law] * get staff to slow down

Posted By Descarte If you live in the Aberdeen area I can recommend a very good local company who can offer WBV measurements to the correct standard for a days work on site and only around £500. Email if you want any further details

Posted By rsellars meant to say on last response typical example of companies attitude to getting repairs done-last year part of the roof fell in because they kept withholding the capital for repairing despite requests 5yrs running for the capital to repair it.
