Posted By Daniel Melconian Hi,
I recently inspected a premises where they have had fire doors fitted throughout, but it appears that they have been poorly fitted with considerable gaps around some of doors (10mm+) They are also fitted with intumescent strips.
My concern is that in the event of a fire, smoke would easily be able to pass through these gaps around the door even if the intumescent strips were to expand fully upon heat exposure.(But by then it would surely be too late anyway)
Can anybody confirm the maximum air gap that is permitted around the edge of a fire door, with or without an intumescent strip fitted and/or direct me to the correct British Standard?
Many thanks in advance,
Daniel
