A company I represent is considering reusable toe protection for temporary workers (15 days to 3 months). These look like the front steel toe part of the shoes attached to a wide elasticated band. They are CE marked and made in a EU country. Has anyone made use of similar toe protection? All others who wishes to express their opinion about the subject are very welcome.

In my previous company we kept a selection of safety shoes (as per the spec of the RA) which were issued to people for the length of their stay. When they left the shoes were sanitised as per bowling alleys, or replaced dependant of wear etc. This system stood up to inspection from the HSE and was also acceptable to the people using them as they had exactly the same protection as permanent people.
Just a thought.

Gareth,
Thanks. I found the thread useful.
Amanda,
Thanks for your opinion and personally agree. However the culture over here is very complicated. While I will be considering the option you presented, the people here seem to prefer the detachable ones, but personally do not like the model with the elastic band that we obtained as a sample. Thanks again.

George,
If you do go down the overshoe route we have taken, buy a couple of sturdy shoe horns, as they can be difficult to fit over the standard shoe.
