Posted By Phillipe Not a prosecution but had an Improvement Notice served last year during the extreme weather. We were recording temps of 36 degrees in the offices, that was with cooling cubes, fans, etc, etc. EHO wanted us to install mechanical cooling equipment (a/c). Cost to install was 200k plus £1m to build an electrical sub station in which to pwer the a/c as there was no spare capacity to run it. Needless to say we thought was unreasonable and challenged their notice. The notice was dropped soon after, but having said all of that, 36 degrees in an office environment was very warm indeed. It didn't help when 2 people passed out and became unconscious as a result. By the letter of the law that is RIDDOR reportable hence the enforcement notice.
