Hi,
Would a holder of the above be able to be a First Aider at Work or would they need to take the current 4 day First Aid at Work course?
Regards
Rob

In my opinion to meet the requirements of The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 a 'Trained First Aider' is someone who holds a HSE approved first aid course certificate. Dependant on the industry there may be a requirement for further specialist training.
Therefore the question is... Does the Divers First Aid Certificate meets the criteria required under these regulations?

Hi there,
In response to your question about Emergency First Response over Occupational First Aider, you should verify that the EFR is to a higher standard then the OFA. In that case you should be covered.
I am a certified OFA and a Emergency Medical First Responder (EMFR). Here in Ireland being certified to OFA is considered the minimum.
EMFR and EFR normally complete 5 days training to a higher standard then that of OFA.
There are also trained in Oxygen therapy and Splinting. Spinal injuries are also covered but assisting patients with this type of injury should only be done when there is same level or above (paramedic)assistance available.
